Volusia County is inviting applications for the highly anticipated Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Countywide program for the fiscal year 2023-24. The county expects to receive $147,710 from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, although this amount remains subject to adjustments depending on the availability of funds.
The grants are available on a competitive basis and are open to Volusia County nonprofit organizations and local municipalities that do not receive a direct annual allocation of JAG funding.
Eligible federal purpose areas for funding encompass crucial areas, including law enforcement, prosecution and court operations, prevention and education, corrections and community corrections, drug treatment and enforcement, planning, evaluation, and technology improvement, crime victim and witness programs, and mental health and related law enforcement and corrections programs.
The Children and Families Advisory Board evaluates and selects applications and will assess and score the submissions, providing funding recommendations. The final approval for funding allocation will rest with the Volusia County Council.
