In an exciting development for education in Volusia County, the Volusia County Schools have proudly introduced their highly anticipated state-of-the-art STEM bus. This mobile learning lab will enhance students' learning experiences, facilitating the development of vital 21st-century skills, and providing innovative and immersive experiences that extend beyond the classroom, specifically in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

The grand reveal of the STEM bus took place on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Beachside Elementary, located at 1265 N. Grandview Avenue in  Daytona Beach, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a momentous kickoff ceremony that featured esteemed figures such as Superintendent Dr. Carmen Balgobin, distinguished board members, Science Coordinator Jen Taylor, STEM Specialist Amy Monahan, STEM Bus Resource Teacher and Driver David Van Slyke, Transportation Director Rodney Smith, Principal Leigh Prokop, and the enthusiastic students of Beachside Elementary.

The STEM bus will embark on a journey, traveling to various elementary schools within the district, where it will engage students through captivating modules on virtual reality, robotics, electricity, microscopes, and more. Additionally, the STEM bus will serve as a platform for community engagement opportunities, STEM tournaments, and themed STEM nights to foster a passion for these critical fields of study among students and the wider community.

This innovative initiative by Volusia County Schools demonstrates a commitment to embracing modern education techniques and ensuring students have the necessary skills to thrive in a technologically advancing world.
