Volusia County is proud to introduce VoRide, a groundbreaking curb-to-curb rideshare initiative, now available in the DeLand service region.
What sets VoRide apart is its commitment to affordability, offering a flat rate of only $2 per passenger for each ride. This pricing structure remains consistent regardless of the time or day, eliminating concerns about peak-time surcharges and establishing VoRide as the go-to budget-friendly choice for commuters. Embracing a genuine rideshare model, passengers may share rides with others, fostering cost-effectiveness and promoting sustainable transportation practices. All VoRide vehicles proudly display both the VoRide and County logos and are operated by Via, the County's contracted service provider, ensuring passengers travel with trained and thoroughly screened drivers.
In line with the County's dedication to inclusivity, VoRide introduces discounted fares for specific demographics, including children aged 7 to 18, individuals with disabilities, and seniors over 65. The app facilitates easy requests for wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and children under seven can ride for free when accompanied by a paying guardian. Payment options include in-app transactions and cash payments to drivers, with a strict no-tipping policy.
For those looking to extend their journey beyond the DeLand service area, VoRide seamlessly integrates with Votran buses, ensuring a smooth transition without additional charges in most cases. This integrated approach significantly expands the reach of the service.
The VoRide app enables users to effortlessly book rides, manage payment methods, and track their driver's real-time location. This functionality aims to streamline daily commutes and simplify trips to various destinations, such as workplaces, stores, doctor appointments, and social gatherings. Residents and visitors eager to embrace this convenient mode of travel can easily access the service by downloading the VoRide app from the App Store or Google Play.
VoRide operates from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, catering to a broad spectrum of transportation needs. The service will not be available on Sundays or holidays. Plans include expanding VoRide services to the DeBary, Deltona, and Orange City areas in 2024.
Individuals facing challenges with app usage can reach VoRide at 386-210-9861 or visit www.votran.org for more information.
