Opioid Abatement Funds Available through Volusia County

Volusia County’s Human Services Division is now accepting applications for opioid abatement funding until noon on May 20. It’s anticipated that $4 million in opioid settlement funds will be available through the Volusia County Opioid Abatement Advisory Board for programs, projects, and services.

Local governments, municipalities, and nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply. All programs, projects, and services related to addressing the opioid crisis and within the Volusia County Opioid Abatement Plan may be considered for funding. This includes substance abuse and mental health treatment, support for individuals in treatment and recovery, connections to care, addressing the needs of criminal-justice-involved persons, addressing the needs of pregnant or parenting women and their families, treatment for babies with neonatal abstinence syndrome, prevention of over-prescribing and ensuring appropriate prescribing and dispensing of opioids, prevention of misuse of opioids, prevention of overdose deaths, harm reduction, wellness and support services for first responders, education, leadership, planning, coordination, training, and research as a component of a proposal.

The 14-member Opioid Abatement Advisory Board, which includes representatives from the 13 participating municipalities, is chaired by District 3 Volusia County Council Member Danny Robins.

Information regarding eligible uses of funding and Volusia County’s interlocal agreement, opioid abatement plan and advisory board bylaws can be found at https://www.volusia.org/opioidadvisory.
