New Veterans Clinic in Daytona to Open in May
The new Veterans Affairs (VA) multi-specialty clinic is expected to open on Williamson Boulevard in Daytona Beach in May. Under construction since late 2021, the $60 million project will be double the size of the existing William V. Chappell VA clinic it is replacing. The existing VA clinic, located a few miles away, is leased and will return to the owner. The VA's Veterans Center for mental health at the location will, however, remain open. The site of the new VA clinic was purchased from Volusia County Schools for $4.48 million in early 2021 by Carnegie Management & Development Corp. under the name Daytona Beach VA Company LLC.
Back in 2017, a bill passed in Congress that earmarked $12.1 million in federal funding to improve facilities and hospitals for Veterans. The new facility will offer a full line of services, including audiology, cardiology, endoscopy, gastroenterology, neurology, optometry, sleep, and wound care. It will also offer recreation therapy, pain management, select surgery services, acupuncture, sterile processing, vascular lab work, social work, homeless services, chiropractic, dermatology, telehealth, chaplain services, physical therapy, complex patient aligned care, patient advocacy, primary care, mental health, warehousing, and more.
