It's that ghoulish time of year again, and DeBary residents are encouraged to embrace their inner spookster as the highly anticipated Halloween Decorating Contest makes a grand return! The eerie extravaganza invites all residents to showcase their hauntingly creative decorations and compete to be known as the most bewitching house in DeBary.
With registration opening on Monday, September 18, 2023, participants should mark their calendars and join the frightful fun. The best part? It won't cost a thing to enter this spine-chilling spectacle of creativity. Registration ends on Tuesday, October 17, and is open to DeBary residents only.
Judging will be from October 23 to October 26, giving participants ample time to transform their abodes into ghostly masterpieces by dividing the city into two sectors: North and South of Highbanks, each vying for the spine-tingling prizes awaiting the winners in their respective divisions.
Judges will evaluate homes based on creativity, use of decor, and overall appearance. Addresses will be made public for all residents to admire the chilling displays.
Contest Categories:
- Spookiest: Entries will be judged on their ability to induce fear and send shivers down spines.
- Classic Halloween: Showcase a Halloween-based theme that embodies the spooky yet fun essence of this haunting holiday.
- Best Effects: This category applauds special effects, from eerie lights to mechanical surprises that promise to thrill and entertain.
