Volusia County’s 2024 Hurricane Expo

Volusia County is once trying to prepare citizens for potential hurricanes. On Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the 2024 Hurricane Expo will take place at the Volusia County UF/IFAS Extension Office, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand, within the Hester and Daugharty buildings adjacent to the Volusia County Fairgrounds. The county is working in collaboration with the Volusia Community Organizations Active in Disasters (COAD) and the Volusia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The Expo aims to educate and prepare the community for hurricane season through engaging safety demonstrations, educational presentations, and comprehensive hurricane preparedness exhibits.

"The Hurricane Expo is not just a resource fair as some may think; it's a crucial opportunity for our community to come together, learn, and prepare," said Emergency Management Director Clint Mecham. "With interactive exhibits, vital safety information, and the distribution of essential preparedness items, it promises to be an informative and empowering experience for all attendees."

To enhance community safety, Volusia County and its partners will also distribute weather radios and other vital safety items to residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Details about vendors and guest speakers will be announced as the event approaches. The Expo is free to attend, and no pre-registration is required.
