Volusia County Schools celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week.

Volusia County Schools is gearing up to honor its dedicated educators during Teacher Appreciation Week from May 1 to May 5, with activities to recognize the district's more than 4,700 teachers planned by Superintendent Dr. Carmen Balgobin, the Volusia County School Board members, business partners, and the VCS team.

"I want to thank all of our teachers for their hard work and dedication to our students, their families, and our communities. The work they have done, and continue to do, is incredible and has made a tremendous impact on the future of our students," said Dr. Balgobin, who - with board members and district staff - will personally visit schools throughout the week to express their gratitude and support for the teachers.

Throughout the week, various business partners will participate in giveaways and gestures of appreciation for the teachers, and district staff will personally deliver gift baskets donated by Pirate's Cove, DME Delivers, Addition Financial, Oil & Vinegar, and The Cathey Team at RE/MAX Signature to teachers each day. 

In addition, Kona Ice Volusia County will offer free treats at three schools.

On Monday, select teachers from five schools will receive complimentary pizza coupons courtesy of Blaze Pizza. On Tuesday, the Volusia County Tax Collector Will Roberts' office will provide swag bags to five teachers, and Whit's Frozen Custard will offer gift cards and bags to three teachers. Popeyes will generously provide complimentary family meal coupons to ten teachers on Wednesday, while Zaxby's will offer complimentary meal deal coupons to six teachers on Thursday. Florida Health Care Plans will wrap up the week by presenting Fitbits to two teachers on Friday.

In addition to these events, Volusia County Schools encourages the community to celebrate teachers on social media by using the hashtag #WeLoveVCSTeachers. Each day of the week has a specific theme for social media posts:

• Memories Monday: Share a favorite memory about a teacher.
• Tag a Teacher Tuesday: Tag your favorite teacher, past or present, and give them a dedicated shoutout.
• We Love Teachers Wednesday: Send a teacher an email sharing what you love about them.
• Thank a Teacher Thursday: Write a thank you message to your teacher(s).
• Friday Funnies: Share the funniest memory of your teacher(s) or make them smile with a picture or video message.
