Ed Stone Park Remains Open During Road Construction
Starting Friday, April 5, the Florida Department of Transportation will begin construction of a new access road to Ed Stone Park in DeLand and the neighboring marina. During construction, all park amenities will remain open, including the boat ramp, restrooms, parking, fishing dock, and pavilion. Access to the main entrance will be closed during construction. Those planning to visit the park will be directed to take a detour to access an alternate entrance. Drivers will begin the detour at S. Shell Road, turn right on Old New York Avenue, and continue following the road under the State Road 44 bridge to enter the park. Video message boards and other signage will be placed in the area to help direct drivers.
The main entrance will be closed for approximately one month to facilitate construction, more information about the overall project can be found at https://www.cflroads.com/project/429556-1. The construction schedule is subject to change pending weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
