Deltona Names City Manager

In a unanimous vote, the Deltona City Commission has approved selection of Dale "Doc" Dougherty as City Manager pending final agreement of a contract. He and his wife, a schoolteacher, have five children ranging in age from 18 to 24. Dougherty has held the city manager job in Garden City, Michigan for the last six years and has family in the Orlando area. The other contender, Carmen Davis, had a tenure of two years with Lake Worth Beach, a city in Palm Beach County.

The City Manager, as Chief Executive Administrative Officer of the City, plans, organizes and directs the activities of all Departments of the municipality. Deltona is the largest municipality within Volusia County.
