Earlier this week, a Notice of Proposed Property Taxes was mailed to property owners across Volusia County by the Property Tax Appraiser's office to serve as a formal communication regarding the suggested assessed value of their properties, the proposed millage rate, and the proposed solid waste and stormwater assessments. These notifications provide insight into potential adjustments in local tax rates.
According to the City of Deltona, after the notices were due to the County, the Deltona City Commission decided to keep the Stormwater rate at the current rate of $128 per year after proposing an increase to $160 annually. Similarly, an increase in Solid Waste fees to $233.15 was discussed, with commissioners voting to leave the current rate of $202.80 per year.
The conclusion reached by the Deltona City Commission ensures that residents will not face any changes in their Stormwater and Solid Waste rates in the upcoming fiscal year. The final tax bill, slated to be mailed out to property owners in November, will embody the established assessments of $128 for Stormwater and $202.80 for Solid Waste.
The Commission's decision to maintain these rates brings clarity to property owners who may have been uncertain about the variance between the preliminary proposals and the confirmed rates.
